Gina McClement

(MCoun, PostGradDip Coun, BBus, GAICD, MACA)

is registered with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and is an Associate Member of the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (aadpa). She has undergone extensive education and training in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Meditation and ADHD.

Professional Qualifications and Training

Gina draws from a range of therapy models and practices including client-centered therapy, psychodynamic therapy, emotion-focused therapy, positive psychology, motivational interviewing, and attachment theory. She works from a trauma informed lens, empowering clients with self-regulation techniques and psychoeducation. Gina’s toolbox ensures client collaboration and alignment on the treatment approach and way forward.

Resource Therapy

Known for her emotion processing work, Gina’s advanced training in Resource Therapy (RT) is central to helping her clients grow. RT is a brief, psychodynamic, trauma and attachment informed psychotherapy developed by Australian Professor Gordon Emmerson. In simpler terms RT works with the personality parts needing healing and change. RT facilitates compassionate, deep, long-lasting change across a diverse and wide range of mind health challenges.

ADHD Thrive

Gina offers a unique therapeutic space for her clients living with ADHD. Gina takes an evidence-based approach to build a tailored platform of support for each client and works with other ADHD professionals as part of shared care. Gina has completed the ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider Course and is an Associate Member of the Australian ADHD Professionals Association. Her Master of Counselling research examined parental stress when raising children with ADHD. Gina utilises her research, knowledge and experience in ADHD to help adults and parents/carers in families with ADHD to cope better and thrive.

Meditation

Gina trained in meditation under renowned Paul and Maia Bedson at the Yarra Valley Living Center, formerly the Ian Gawler Cancer Foundation. Utilising Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation and Guided Imagery as part of her work, clients can integrate the benefits of mindfulness into everyday life, as an emotion regulation tool and evidence-based intervention available to everyone.

LGBTQIA+ Affirming

Gina is an advocate and ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. Gina undertook specialised studies and counselling to deepen her understanding of the history and day-to-day challenges experienced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Gina combines her experience, professional training and what her LGTBQIA+ friends and family have taught her, to provide a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community to be themselves.
